25 May 2017

Telia Latvija provided video streaming platform for Ice-Hockey World Championship 2017 broadcasts to several customers. The largest streaming volume was achieved during the game between Latvian and German teams, when the total video streaming volume exceeded 80 Gbps (twice the volume a year before) with close to one hundred thousand simultaneous viewers.

Streaming of ice-hockey games went smoothly on several web-based TV platforms and online video sites. The total viewership watching a single ice-hockey game approached 200,000. Adaptive streaming formats provided the best possible video quality depending on the viewer’s Internet connection speed and screen resolution of the device used for playback.
